Huli Opene. In Papua New Guinea, Huli and Opene were brothers some hundreds of years ago. Huli are the people who are now called Hela province, Tari is the capital, where the major LNG project is. Opene on the other end, are the people of Enga Province,where Pogera Gold is now. Huli have about 3 languages, but Enga have only one. Years ago, Opene migrated to Enga in search for food, while Huli remain behind. Both Huli and Opene have natural hair in the past. They never cut their hair since they were born. If they had curly hair, it would have fallen down touching the ground. They only packed the hair so it would never fall like women, and decorated it with birds feathers and bush farns. Huli has colour full dressings, with their hat shaped like the wings of a bird. The real Huli and Opene, had natural hair, but today's Huli and Opene collected hair from friends to build their traditional hat. Opene are all black, and when they dance, they stayed in one place ...
